The Y-20 transport aircraft is a new generation of large jet transport aircraft independently developed by China. It was designed by the Aircraft Design and Research Institute of China Aviation Industry Corporation and manufactured by XAC. The test flight was successful on January 26, 2013.
At the beginning of the 21st century, the Y-20 and China's large passenger aircraft C919 and amphibious aircraft AG600 have successively established projects, and are known as the "Three Musketeers" of China's large aircraft. Among the three large aircraft, the Y-20 aircraft has the largest size and the fastest progress. It was the first to achieve its first flight and has been delivered to the Air Force in small batches. Its successful development has greatly improved the strategic transportation capabilities of the Chinese military and has become a milestone in the technological history of China's aviation industry.
The development of the Y-20 aircraft refers to the aerodynamic shape and body structure of the Russian Il-76, and incorporates some of the characteristics of the American C-17. The aircraft adopts a conventional layout, with a suspended tubular upper single wing and a forward-swept winglet with a take-off weight of 220 tons and a payload of more than 66 tons. Just fit into the 99A tank. In addition to the transportation and release of materials, equipment, and personnel, the Y-20 also has other potential uses, such as refitting into an early warning aircraft and refueling aircraft.
